Graduating Student Technology Checklist
Access to Email, Software, and Services
Upon graduation access to your VCU Google Workspace student account, software, and several online services will automatically be disabled. While some services are disabled shortly after graduating, others may take several semesters if you do not re-enroll in classes, however you should still work to migrate/backup any data you need to keep before graduating.
For more information about each, please refer to the sections below (click to expand).
Adobe Creative Cloud
Before you graduate, please review the VCU Adobe Asset Backup/Migration guide. You must back up your data manually before creating a personal Adobe account using a non-VCU email address. Unfortunately, the Adobe Graduation Portal and asset migration tool are not available for VCU students or employees and this method of data migration will NOT work for any VCU Adobe account.
However, graduating VCU students still qualify for special discount pricing on the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Details and pricing are available on the Adobe website.
Canvas
Graduating students can access their course information within Canvas according to the VCU Continuous Enrollment policy, as described on the User Statuses on the Canvas page.
Following the Alumni Email Standard, graduates will be provided a new Google email account in the alumni.vcu.edu domain.
Visit the VCU Collaboration Services page here for more information and look for notifications to claim your account in the coming weeks. Your account must be signed into once a year to keep the account active.
LinkedIn Learning
Graduating students will no longer have LinkedIn Learning access through VCU. Be sure to complete any courses before you graduate!
Microsoft Office 365 / Windows Education Upgrade
The Microsoft software available through Office 365 is only available for download for current VCU students.
Graduating students will no longer have Microsoft software download access through VCU. Additionally, any downloaded and installed software from the Office 365 portal or through VCU's OnTheHub portal is no longer authorized after leaving VCU.
In addition to removing Microsoft Office 365 from your device(s), if you used a Windows Education upgrade license for your laptop or any other device(s), you will be required to downgrade your Windows 10/11 license back to your original license upon separation from VCU.
Graduating students will no longer have access to Top Hat course or content made available by VCU instructors.
Zoom
Student Zoom accounts are terminated upon graduating from or separating from VCU within several weeks.

In addition to the software and services outlined above, students should also review the following additional recommendations before graduating.
